Transitional Year Residency Program Curriculum

Our program curriculum offers broad, well-balanced exposure to a variety of clinical practice areas to prepare residents for a subsequent program in their chosen specialty.

Rotations

During your transitional year, you’ll build a solid foundation through hands-on experience.

  • Inpatient Family Medicine — 8 weeks
  • Obstetrics or Inpatient Medicine (selective) — 4 weeks
  • General Surgery — 4 weeks
  • Emergency Medicine — 4 weeks
  • Family Medicine Outpatient — 8 weeks
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit — 4 weeks
  • Quality Improvement / Clinical Informatics — 4 weeks
  • Electives — 16 weeks

Electives

All required rotations are available as electives in addition to these subspecialties.

  • Adult Medicine (Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Rheumatology)
  • Surgery (ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology)
  • Outpatient Surgery
  • Anesthesiology
  • Research
