Emotional Support

Emotional Support

Our Support Services

  • Help for patients and their families.
  • Supportive, responsive staff.
  • A network of support groups.

Counseling

Sometimes you need to talk to someone who understands the unique stress and fears that come with cancer diagnosis.

How we can help:

  • Nurse navigators offer emotional and logistical support.
  • Support groups bring people together to work through challenges in a safe environment.
  • Weekly support group led by a social worker.

Children

It's important for children to understand what it means when a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer. We have a children’s glossary of cancer-related terms to help them learn more about their loved one’s diagnosis and treatment and reduce the fear that comes from not knowing these words. Pastoral Care is also available to talk with children and help them identify and cope with their feelings.

Spiritual Care

Keeping in touch with your beliefs is an important part of the healing process.

How we can help:

  • Respect for all faiths and beliefs.
  • A dedicated oncology chaplain who understands the unique needs of cancer patients.
  • Holy Communion and other rites.
  • Written prayer requests.
  • Prayer and meditation in our 24-hour chapel.
  • Holy books and rosaries available on request.
