Personal experience creates a special empathy for patients.
Kelly, Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator, helps diagnosed women navigate the healthcare system, providing much needed emotional support.
She is also a breast cancer survivor. Kelly was diagnosed at age 37, shortly after assuming this role.
“That helped me understand why I was here,” she said. “I traveled this road with my patients. I went through treatments with them and experienced everything they experienced. I can empathize with women and families.”
Kelly views her experiences with a sense of purpose. “I have been given a special gift to be able to share that with these women.”
