Surviving “the widow maker” inspires healthier choices.
Les Snipes attributes his recovery from a heart attack to the exceptional care he received at Lexington Medical Center. Caused by two blocked arteries, this type of cardiac emergency is often called “ the widow maker” due to frequent fatal outcomes.
Les had open heart surgery and spent a week in the hospital before beginning cardiac rehabilitation. “I couldn’t have asked for better care,” he says.
Surviving the ordeal inspired Les to reassess bad health choices. Before his heart attack he smoked a pack a day. He quit immediately after his surgery. Today he says he feels 100 percent better.
