Programs & Initiatives

Our Programs

The Foundation provides hope to patients, families and community members through meaningful resources and programs. Your support makes it possible for us to lift burdens and meet the needs of our community – thank you!

Cancer Care

Lexington Medical Center fights cancer alongside its patients. The Foundation supports this care philosophy with cancer programs that help patients focus on their treatment and survivorship.

Mother-Baby Care

The Foundation works to ensure the highest quality health services and resources are available to new mothers and their babies. These initiatives are delivered through our We Care Internal Grants as well as the Women and Children Fund.

Cardiac Care

One in three deaths in South Carolina is related to cardiovascular disease. For this reason, the Foundation works to help heart patients achieve a full recovery through patient discharge kits, cardiac rehabilitation services and smoking-cessation.

Patient Care

The Foundation supports Lexington Medical Center’s mission by enhancing hospital services with impactful patient and community programs. These initiatives affect every area of patient care in Lexington Medical Center’s network of care and are often born from innovative minds and caring hearts of our employees.

Community Care

At Lexington Medical Center, community members are treated like family. They find support when they most need it through Foundation programs and services — from nursing and allied health scholarships to caregiver training through the Helping U Grow Strong (HUGS) Ambassador program.

Employee Care

For more than 20 years, the Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s Emergency Care Fund has supported employees facing financial hardships due to an unexpected crisis event in their lives.

Our Initiatives

In addition to these programs, the Foundation provides hope through collaborations with Lexington Medical Center employees and nonprofit partners in the Midlands.

We Care Internal Grants

Foundation awards We Care Internal Grants to departments and facilities throughout the hospital’s network. These programs come from the hearts and minds of our dedicated employees and enable the Foundation to enhance patient care in unique and meaningful ways.

Grateful Hearts

Did someone at Lexington Medical Center help you have a better experience? A doctor who answered your questions with compassion? A nurse who provided comfort and excellent care? A volunteer or staff member who made the extra effort to lend a hand? Share your appreciation through a gift to the Foundation in honor of a special caregiver.

Health Care Scholarships

Lexington Medical Center is committed to providing the best quality health care to its patients and community. To support this commitment, the Lexington Medical Center Foundation provides annual health care scholarships to invest in maintaining the high quality staff that has come to symbolize Lexington Medical Center. Scholarships are available for current students pursuing a degree in nursing.

Lexington Medical Center employees pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's degree in select Allied Health programs as described below are also eligible to apply for scholarship support.

Community Outreach Grants

Lexington Medical Center and the Foundation awarded $1,200,000 in support to 501(C)3 non-profits that address community healthcare needs, adhere to the core mission of the hospital, bridge the healthcare gaps within our service area, and reflect projects that are deemed to be in the best interest of the hospital.
