Our Programs
The Foundation provides hope to patients, families and community members through meaningful resources and programs. Your support makes it possible for us to lift burdens and meet the needs of our community – thank you!
Foundation awards We Care Internal Grants to departments and facilities throughout the hospital’s network. These programs come from the hearts and minds of our dedicated employees and enable the Foundation to enhance patient care in unique and meaningful ways.
At Lexington Medical Center, community members are treated like family. They find support when they most need it through Foundation programs and services — from nursing and allied health scholarships to caregiver training through the Helping U Grow Strong (HUGS) Ambassador program.
For more than 20 years, the Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s Emergency Care Fund has supported employees facing financial hardships due to an unexpected crisis event in their lives.
Our Initiatives
In addition to these programs, the Foundation provides hope through collaborations with Lexington Medical Center employees and nonprofit partners in the Midlands.
Did someone at Lexington Medical Center help you have a better experience? A doctor who answered your questions with compassion? A nurse who provided comfort and excellent care? A volunteer or staff member who made the extra effort to lend a hand? Share your appreciation through a gift to the Foundation in honor of a special caregiver.
Lexington Medical Center is committed to providing the best quality health care to its patients and community. To support this commitment, the Lexington Medical Center Foundation provides annual health care scholarships to invest in maintaining the high quality staff that has come to symbolize Lexington Medical Center. Scholarships are available for current students pursuing a degree in nursing.
Lexington Medical Center employees pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's degree in select Allied Health programs as described below are also eligible to apply for scholarship support.
Community Outreach Grants
Lexington Medical Center's Community Outreach Committee and the Lexington Medical Center Foundation awarded $1,500,000 to 27 organizations in the Midlands that enhance the health and wellness of community members. Distributed annually, this was the largest amount ever awarded.
Giving criteria for grant recipients prioritizes organizations serving the local community’s health needs, increasing access to health care services for underserved populations, improving education about and prevention of health problems resulting from social and environmental issues, demonstrating collaboration with existing health care initiatives, improving access to health care and support services for vulnerable and at-risk populations, and improving the capacity of safety net services and providers.
