Dr. Giugliano graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and a master’s degree in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and completed his internal medicine residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Giugliano then completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, a research fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard Clinical Research Institute, Department of Medicine, Division of Clinical Biometrics, in Boston, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Among other certifications, Dr. Giugliano is board certified in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, endovascular intervention and vascular medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and is an American Board of Internal Medicine diplomate. Dr. Giugliano recently served as the medical director of Interventional Cardiology at Northeast Georgia Health System, Georgia Heart Institute in Gainesville, Georgia, and chaired its Quality Committee. In addition, he trained cardiovascular disease fellows at Northeast Georgia Health System and interventional cardiology fellows at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. He also trained general cardiology fellows in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Baystate Medical Center, served as an attending physician for its Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and oversaw its Cardiology Consultation Service.
A well-respected physician, academic and researcher with more than 20 years of patient care expertise, Dr. Giugliano has served in numerous leadership roles throughout his career. He has also completed more than 10 grants and clinical trials, published more than 65 peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed articles, books and chapters, and presented at more than 70 international, national, regional and local conferences and annual meetings.
