Dr. Gnerlich graduated as a Student Marshal with highest honors from the University of Chicago with a degree in biological sciences. She then earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. While completing her general surgery residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, she completed a research fellowship in cancer immunology and performed clinical outcomes research. She then completed a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Dr. Gnerlich is double board-certified in complex general surgical oncology and general surgery. She holds memberships with the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Association of Women Surgeons. She has participated in more than 45 presentations, seminars, and panels, in addition to authoring more than 25 publications, commentaries and book chapters.
Dr. Gnerlich specializes in treating challenging cancers such as breast, skin (melanoma), sarcoma, stomach, pancreatic and liver. She is dedicated to individualizing treatment plans to not only provide the best outcome for her patients but also the best quality of life. Dr. Gnerlich joins Lexington Medical Center’s network of care at Lexington Surgery to provide comprehensive surgical oncology care to patients.
