Dr. Athreya graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science/ neuroscience and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He then completed his neurology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, gaining extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles in patients of all ages, as well as a one-year fellowship in clinical neurophysiology to read diagnostic electroencephalograms and perform electromyograms. He also completed a two-year research project about the withdrawal of anti-epileptic drugs and served as house staff representative for Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Athreya proudly joins the highly skilled physicians and staff at Lexington Hospitalists to provide comprehensive inpatient care at Lexington Medical Center.
