Bio

Dr. Simon graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a distinguished military graduate in its Reserve Officers’ Training Program. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania and completed his general surgery residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia. He then completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery, Dr. Simon is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery and is a member of the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society. He has additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support and basic cardiac life support and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation. Dr. Simon most recently served as chief of Vascular Surgery at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, as a vascular surgeon at Charlie Norwood Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, and as an assistant professor of Surgery for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Simon is a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps, having served as a general surgeon in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and as a vascular and general surgeon in Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq. Among his commendations during his 27-year military career are a Legion of Merit, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Combat Device, Army Commendation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Army Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon and the NATO-ISAF Medal.

Dr. Simon proudly joins the board-certified cardiologists, vascular surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons and highly skilled staff at Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center to provide patients with the highest level of care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases.
