Kathryn R. Rawlings, MD, MPH, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and a Master of Public Health from the University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health in Columbia. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Rawlings then completed her residency in emergency medicine at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke where she practiced at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, New River Valley Medical Center and Franklin Memorial Hospital.
During her residency, Dr. Rawlings served as a medical volunteer at Roanoke Rescue Mission Free Clinic. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Medical Women’s Association, the American Public Health Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine. Board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Rawlings has special interests in microbiology, histology and intubation.
