James Peyton Hassinger Jr., MD, graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University in Raleigh with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Hassinger completed his residency in emergency medicine at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina, serving as chief resident from 2013 to 2014.
Dr. Hassinger is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians and the South Carolina Medical Association.
