Michelle C. O’Brien, MD, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a Bachelor of Science in biology and earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. She then completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, serving as chief resident.
In addition to her residency, Dr. O’Brien completed a hand fellowship at Baptist Health Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, receiving additional training to treat complex disorders of the hand and upper extremities.
She most recently completed her hand fellowship, while researching factors associated with delayed union and non-union after dorsal bridge plating of distal radius fractures and revision surgery following four-corner fusion.
