David A. Hankins, MD, graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a Bachelor of Science in integrative biology and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, serving as chief administrative resident. During his residency, he volunteered with the Duval County Public Schools medical staff in Jacksonville, Florida.
In addition to his residency, Dr. Hankins completed an orthopaedic surgery sports medicine fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he cared for Division I athletes at the university. He offers general orthopaedic services and specializes in a variety of procedures, including cartilage restoration of the knee, hip and shoulder; patellar instability; knee meniscal pathology, single — and multi-ligament knee injury repair; hip arthroscopy; shoulder instability; and arthoscopic repair and reconstruction of rotator cuff disease.
