Stephen E. Van Horn Jr., MD, FACC, is a native of Camden, South Carolina. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. While at MUSC, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Van Horn completed his internal medicine residency, cardiovascular disease fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at MUSC. His research interests included alcohol septal ablations for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarctions and intravascular ultrasound for percutaneous coronary interventions. He has been published in Medical Clinics of North America and Current Cardiovascular Imaging Reports.

Dr. Van Horn is an American College of Cardiology Fellow and a member of the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association and the South Carolina Medical Association. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. His special interests include general and interventional cardiology and structural heart disease, including patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect closures.
