Dr. Lawton is a native of South Carolina and received a bachelor’s degree in French from Duke University. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his cardiology training at the University of North Carolina, UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He is board certified in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.
In 2000, Dr. Lawton served as chief of Cardiology at Providence Hospital. He is published in Catheterization & Cardiovascular Digest and Journal of Clinical Outcomes Management. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Lawton’s special interests include Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Disease Diagnosis and Intervention.
