West Columbia, S.C.–For the second year in a row, Lexington Medical Center is one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina. The hospital received this accolade from SC Biz News, the Best Companies Group and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. Lexington Medical Center is the only hospital to receive this award, which identifies, recognizes and honors the best employers in the state of South Carolina.
The competition determines the Best Places to Work using criteria including an employee survey and an employer questionnaire. Best Companies Group then looks for at least an 80 percent positive response from employees and alignment across eight core focus areas: Leadership and Planning, Corporate Culture and Communications, Role Satisfaction, Work Environment, Relationship with Supervisor, Training, Development and Resources, Pay and Benefits and Overall Engagement.
“We are honored to be recognized as one of South Carolina’s Best Places to Work,” said Brian Smith, vice president of Human Resources at Lexington Medical Center. “Creating a strong culture and a great work environment for our 8,000 employees is key to our mission of providing quality health services to our communities. Our employees are amazing!”
In addition to comprehensive benefits that start on day one of employment, Lexington Medical Center provides employees with free immunizations, annual health screenings and mammograms, and an on-site Employee Health Clinic. Its free, confidential employee assistance program is available to employees and their immediate family members for a variety of services, while its post-trauma resources and respite spaces at its facilities give employees a place to recharge and restore.
To support working parents, Lexington Medical Center offers on-site childcare at its main campus. This accredited center has extended weekday hours, low teacher-to-student ratios and a safe, nurturing environment for the children of Lexington Medical Center employees. Lexington Medical Center also provides internal training and professional development to all its employees. Tuition reimbursement, educational assistance, student loan forgiveness and nursing scholarship opportunities are a few ways the organization supports its employees in achieving their career goals.
“Congratulations to all the Best Places to Work in South Carolina,” said Jason Thomas, executive editor of SC Biz News. “Each of them plays a vital role in making South Carolina a leader in economic development and workplace satisfaction. They are the engine that powers South Carolina’s economy.”
