West Columbia, S.C.– Lexington Medical Center is pleased to welcome James A. Wilkins, MD, to the hospital’s network of care at Lexington Family Practice Irmo. Dr. Wilkins joins the board-certified physicians, physician assistant and nurse practitioner at Lexington Family Practice Irmo to provide quality general medical care to patients from birth to geriatrics in a patient-focused environment.

A graduate of Calhoun Honors College at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Dr. Wilkins earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then completed his residency at AnMed Health in Anderson, South Carolina, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Wilkins is certified in advanced cardiac life support, neonatal advanced life support and pediatric advanced life support. He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the South Carolina Medical Association. He most recently completed his residency at AnMed Health with additional training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and conducted a research study on prolotherapy in Achilles tendonitis.
