Lexington Medical Center Earns Two Gold Web Health Awards

July 31, 2014

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center has won two prestigious “Gold” awards for its responsive website in the 15th annual Web Health Awards contest, a national competition hosted by the Health Information Research Center. The contest honors health-related organizations across America for outstanding content and quality of web-based materials.

Hundreds of local, state and national health-related organizations and companies enter the competition each year. Past winners have included the American Heart Association, Bayer, Mayo Clinic and WebMD. Using a rating scale of 1 to 100 points, a panel of health technology experts judged more than 300 entries this year based on content, format, success in reaching the targeted health audience and overall quality.

“Lexington Medical Center has worked diligently to make its website a user-friendly, state-of-the-art tool that incorporates important health information and resources for the people of our community,” said Mark Shelley, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Lexington Medical Center. “We believe it’s one of the best hospital web sites in the nation.”

Lexington Medical Center’s website, LexMed.com, features stories and photos of Midlands community members who have been Lexington Medical Center patients, a prominent section about new babies born at the hospital, a designated area to search for physicians in the hospital’s network of care, hours of operation, videos, rotating home page content that announces important events and initiatives, and social media integration. Importantly, the website is available in its entirely on mobile devices. Some of the mobile features include a friendly green “Call Patient” button that allows users to enter a patient’s room number and call.

Lexington Medical Center worked in partnership with Truematter to design the hospital’s website.
