The HeartCARE Center™ National Distinction of Excellence is the highest honor the ACC awards. It recognizes hospitals for commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care through accreditations and ongoing registry reporting. Lexington Medical Center is the first hospital in South Carolina to receive this prestigious distinction.

Cancer Center of Excellence

American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer

This designation is granted only to the facilities that have committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and are able to comply with Commission on Cancer standards.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers is a consortium of national, professional organizations focused on breast health and dedicated to the improvement of quality care and outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast through evidence-based standards, as well as patient and professional education.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

American College of Radiology

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

DNV Certified Primary Plus Stroke Center

This certification identifies that Lexington Medical Center has the resources and commitment to provide the best possible stroke care by combining the right equipment, personnel and training to quickly assess and treat strokes. Lexington Medical Center integrates the requirements of hospital accreditation with the guidelines of the Brain Attack Coalition and recommendations of the American Stroke Association. Medical professionals specializing in stroke care work together to address the full spectrum of stroke care – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education – and establish clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.

DNV's Orthopaedic Center of Excellence designation affirms an organization’s excellence in the provision of diagnostic services, surgical services and therapies related to orthopaedic care. Lexington Medical Center’s Total Joint Program provides a patient-centered experience that focuses on patient and family preparation and education to ensure patient safety and prompt recovery.

Accredited Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care

This accreditation is granted to facilities that have committed to providing and demonstrating quality care and outcomes for patients suspected of having an acute coronary event.

Institutes of Quality® Bariatric Surgery

Aetna

Lexington Medical Center is proud to be an Aetna Institute of Quality for Bariatric Surgery. This distinction shows how the hospital meets (and surpasses) criteria for experience, standards of care, follow-up support, efficiency and accreditation. In addition, it means that Lexington Medical Center has a quality improvement program that includes data sharing, that at least 75% of surgical cases are followed up for 12 months after surgery, and that the hospital possesses an organized aftercare program for at least 12 months.
