High School Partners Program

About Our Partners Program

Lexington Medical Center's summer health career awareness program is sponsored by the caring donors of the LMC Foundation. The program is designed to introduce various departments in the health care industry to enthusiastic, bright high school students, who have a genuine interest in a health care related career. Participants complete three rotations through a variety of clinical areas, learning about various careers including professional and allied health careers such as Radiologic Technologist, Physical Therapist, Surgical Technologist, Nursing, Administration, and other patient support roles.

Do I qualify?

Yes, if you meet the below qualifications:

  • Lexington or Richland County resident or attending a school within one of the Lexington or Richland School Districts or a dependent of a Lexington Medical Center employee.
  • Rising high school senior at the time of application submission.
  • 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrate sincere interest in a health care field or working in a hospital setting.

The 2024 Partners application will remain open from January 8, 2024 through February 16, 2024.

2024 Session Dates

Session A: June 10 - June 28
Session B: July 15 - August 2

Session Details

Students will be exposed to the day to day operations of the hospital through clinical rotations, interactive workshops, and field trips. Core hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Field trips may be offered one or two days per week on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Partners will be notified of field trip information closer to the session start date.

Partners are required to provide their own transportation to and from Lexington Medical Center.

Can students take time off for other commitments?

No. The Partners program is very competitive, students must commit for the entire three weeks. Exceptions will not be made for band camp, cheer camp, Governor's school, vacations or other summer activities.

College Scholarships

Participants will be eligible for a $1000 scholarship to the college or university of their choice upon their high school graduation.
