Financial & Social Assistance
Addressing the Full Needs of Patients
Cancer affects patients and their families deeply and often creates needs and concerns that extend beyond treatment. Our licensed, onsite social workers help patients and families as they navigate complicated emotional, physical, spiritual, mental and financial needs and collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure these needs are met.
Social workers can provide patients with immediate and long-term medication assistance through vouchers and pharmaceutical assistance programs. They can refer patients to financial counselors and foundation-based financial assistance options including those from CancerCare, American Cancer Society and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
In addition, they help resolve transportation issues getting to and from Lexington Medical Center and community resources and assist with disability and Medicaid applications.
Our holistic approach to patient care means we provide and facilitate a variety of resources and support groups that help participants experience significant benefits and reduce stress and depression. We also link patients to support groups outside the hospital that speak to their specific needs. We provide compassionate support to patients and families coping with grief and end-of-life processes.
