Cancer Screenings

LMC Community Outreach also provides on-site cancer screenings to area businesses, churches and other organizations.


Mobile Mammography/Breast Health Screening

Mammography is recommended for women age 40 and over every year.

Breast cancer is .

  • The most common cancer among women, other than skin cancer.
  • The leading cause of death in women, after lung cancer.

 



Prostatic-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test

Most men should begin screenings yearly at age 50. African-American men and men with a history of prostate cancer should begin annual testing at age 45.

  • Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men in South Carolina.
  • One man in six will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime.

 


Colorectal Cancer - Fecal Occult Blood (Hemoccult card test)

This test is recommended for anyone age 50 or older.

Colon Cancer is.

  • The second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.
  • More than 90 percent of people with this disease are diagnosed after age 50.
  • Often has no symptoms
